How to use

How to Use

Prepare the mix

By volume 1:1 — 1 part Component A to 1 part Component B.
By weight For every 100 g of Comp. A, add 90 g of Comp. B.

The two components have different densities: if you mix equal parts by weight you will have too much resin and too little hardener.

Stir for 3 minutes

Stir slowly and carefully for at least 3 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom of the cup well. A double pour is recommended.

Under-mixing is the most common mistake — unmixed material leaves sticky spots that never cure.

Apply it to your project

Pour the mix over your project. The resin spreads and levels itself. Work in a space between 21 °C and 25 °C with humidity below 50%.

Remove the bubbles

If surface bubbles appear, pass a torch at a distance gently over them within the first 10 minutes. Repeat after another 10 minutes.

Mistakes to avoid

✕Wrong ratio: always measure, making sure you have done the calculation correctly — by volume or by weight
✕Under-mixing: at least 3 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom of the cup. A double pour is recommended
✕High humidity: Optimum humidity must be below 50% relative humidity.
✕Wrong temperature: the best range is 21 °C to 25 °C. The resin containers must be at the same temperature as the room.

What is the difference between the Medium Density and the High Density resin? +
Both are formulated specifically for art, are 1:1, ultra-crystalline, odourless, free of organic vapours and do not yellow. The main difference is viscosity and curing time: Medium Density (green label) is more fluid and cures in 24 h. High Density (purple label) is more viscous and cures in just 4 h. Both work for any artistic project: Ocean Art, encapsulations, abstracts, final coats on paintings, moulds… but waves and effects turn out slightly differently depending on the viscosity. The choice is a matter of personal preference. You can even combine them in different layers of the same piece.
What makes Green Maiden resins different from other resins? +
They are not made to common industrial formulas. They have gone through a long research process to make them more responsible and better suited to the artist's safety. They are easier and more intuitive to mix and apply, with ultra-crystalline, bright, pure finishes. They emit no organic vapours or odours and contain no nonylphenols or endocrine disruptors. You only have to choose between two formulas: Medium Density or High Density, which makes the work far more intuitive, with no need to pick between too many kinds of resin.
Is it toxic? Can I use it at home? What if I am pregnant or want to work with children? +
Green Maiden resin is non-toxic once cured, with no organic vapour emissions (no VOCs) and no endocrine disruptors — far more responsible than others on the market. Even so, it should always be used with the appropriate protective measures. With children, always under adult supervision, with gloves, a mask and in a ventilated space. If you are pregnant, you can use it with the same precautions. For extra protection you can use forearm sleeves or barrier creams to create an additional layer on the skin. Green Maiden resins hold European certification and are suitable for making children's toys.
What techniques and surfaces can I use it on? Is it suitable for jewellery? +
Yes. Green Maiden resins are multi-purpose and designed for every kind of artistic project: Ocean Art, abstract work, encapsulations, silicone moulds, jewellery, laminates, wood and canvas. They are made to work with more precision, more safely and with more respect for the artist.
Does it yellow over time or in the sun? +
Green Maiden resins are formulated with a UV filter specifically designed not to yellow over time. Any epoxy resin can shift in colour if exposed directly to the sun or mixed with unsuitable pigments, so it should be mixed with good-quality pigments, protected from direct sunlight and not left outdoors.
What is the mixing ratio and how do I measure it correctly? +
The ratio by volume is 1:1: the same amount in ml of component A as of component B. If you prefer to weigh in grams, since the resin is denser than the hardener the ratio is 100 g of A to 90 g of B (amount of A × 0.9 = amount of B). For example: 250 g of A × 0.9 = 225 g of B. A slight variation will not affect the result of the piece, but the two containers will run out of step over time. A calculator will soon be available on the site to make the maths easier.
How long do I have to work with it and how long does it take to cure? +
Working time is around 40 to 55 minutes, depending on the room temperature. The difference is in the curing: High Density (purple label) cures in just 4 hours, which lets you carry on with your piece the same day. Medium Density is touch-dry in 24 hours. Always under optimum conditions: temperature between 22–25 °C and humidity below 50%.
Do I need any special equipment to work with it? +
It depends on your project. Usually you will use a torch or heat gun to remove bubbles (an anti-bubble spray also works), a humidity and temperature meter, and a dehumidifier if you live somewhere damp. To mix, stirring sticks by hand are enough — you do not need degassing machines, just stir well and let it rest. For jewellery, moulds or encapsulations you can use a degasser if you prefer.
What are the ideal temperature and humidity conditions? +
For perfect crystalline finishes, make sure the room temperature is between 21 and 25 °C, relative humidity is 50% or below, the resin containers are at the same temperature as the room, and the surface you are working on is clean and dry. Any of these conditions being off can cause flaws in the final finish.
Is it compatible with any pigment, or only with yours? +
It is compatible with any pigment from any brand: alcohol inks, paste pigments, liquid-based pigments such as the Aqua Pigments Collection and the whole Stone Collection line. What matters is always using good-quality pigments, since poor-quality ones can affect the finish, the curing or the stability of the colour over time.
Is it the same resin Eva Jurado uses in her work? +
Yes. Eva uses both resins in all her pieces, choosing one or the other, or combining them in different layers depending on the type of waves or the result she is after.
How do I clean up if I get it on my skin or on a surface? +
If it gets on your skin, use an exfoliating "mechanic's" soap, or mix your usual soap with sand, salt or bicarbonate of soda. Rub gently with a scourer, rinse with water and repeat. Alcohol, acetone and solvents should never be used on skin — only for cleaning tools or surfaces accidentally stained. It is a good idea to wear an apron or old clothes, as resin does not come out of fabric easily.
How should I store the resin, how long does it keep unopened and does it have an expiry date? +
It should be stored in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Unopened, it has a shelf life of at least 2 years.
